Questions regarding Skyrama 2

Hi!

I'm writing this because there is a little bit of confusion about a possible successor of Skyrama.

What we already knew is that Bigpoint has/had been working on a Skyrama 2 years ago. When searching the internet you can find for example this image from around 2020:



I've always assumed that this was from the period where Skyrama was still being actively developed and that the project later on got cancelled. But today someone found this (which is from an official Yoozoo press document from 2024):



as well as this:



Which seems to mean that Bigpoint would have (again?) started developing on Skyrama 2, that they received funding to do so and that it even was supposed to be released last year. Our question is whether this is true and if yes, what's the state of the project? Was it cancelled or got it simply delayed? And why haven't we heard anything about this yet on the Skyrama forum? How different would this game be compared to Skyrama? Would it be a replacement for Skyrama or would Skyrama keep existing?

Hello michielvde,

there will be no Skyrama 2; the screenshots you've shown here are quite old. There is another game in development, but it has nothing to do with Skyrama.

Even though it doesn't look like it right now, efforts are being made to fix the current bugs and, if possible, introduce new features into the game.

As you know, the game hasn't really been worked on for years, but now it's progressing step by step. However, this doesn't happen overnight.

Good afternoon Flight-Attendant,

how would that explain the 2025 public funding from German federal goverment? I'm pretty sure that Bigpoint would have to return the money as they need to provide proof of work to keep the funding unless the listed information was incorrect which is also possible I suppose, perhaps it was for another game? The first photo that Michielvde showed is indeed super old but the second picture is from 2024 press-post by Yoozoo which is the chinese parent company of Bigpoint and the pictures they posted are completely new and I think that it's apparent that SR2 is meant to be Skyrama 2.

Why would they post something that isn't true and why would Bigpoint borrow money for project that is not being worked on? (again unless the information is somehow false)

Edit:
I went quite into some efforts to verify the screenshot that Michielvde sent about the funding, and it seems to be actually correct. This is a screenshot from the official German Federal funding catalog, which is publicly available and it confirms what he has said. So I'm actually curious if we will see something till the funding expires.

I also learnt that companies may choose to not withdraw the granted funds so that might have happened but it still shows that there was at least an intention in making the project in 2025.
